How Much Should I Pay ?The pricing structure for leaflet distribution is normally charged on a cost per thousand basis, a discount structure is often in place for distributions of greater numbers. As with most things in life people are always trying to push prices down and expect the same level of service, this must be at best a risky plan, but something many companies still try to do. The cost of leaflet delivery is made up of a number of components, normal business running costs, then the costs per the distribution involved, administration, logistics and delivery costs. Distribution costs can vary, but once again be realistic, do not expect to get a top level result if you drive the cost right down. To give an example we have heard of clients trying to organise leaflet distributions at rates between the £12.50 and £15 per thousand, this can only be described as foolish. Be prepared to a pay a reasonable rate for a good service. |

PLEASE HELP US ! Please help us improve the Leaflet Distribution industry by taking part in our Pricing Survey. Many times leaflet distributions are not as succesful as they could have been, and that is just down to one reason, COST. Without doubt if companies had paid more they would have received a better end result. This survey will not be used in any other way than to gain valuable market information. YOU WILL NOT BE CONTACTED IN ANY WAY IF YOU HELP US. Many thanks. A Real Big Thank You to those who have already completed our survey. |

How Many Do I Need To Deliver ?Most Leaflet Distribution companies have a minimum distribution number or minimum spend, this is often around the 5,000 - 10,000 items to be delivered level. This minimum order is to cover all the administration costs along with the distribution and logistic costs. Often larger distributions will attract a better rate per thousand. Areas often have far more households than people might imagine, quantities can soon run into 100,000 properties or more, so be very realistic with the area that you wish to cover. Asking a company to deliver 10,000 leaflets into London is as you would guess a small drop in the ocean, but be assured this sort of request happens very often, whilst this can be done, the area as a whole will have an extremely low penetration level, so trying to analyse any feedback from the drop will be pointless. Remember leaflet distribution is a very cost effective mass marketing method, the concept is to deliver large quantities on a regular basis. |
What Should My Advertising Budget Be ?Most companies have very little idea of what their advertising budget should be, and when they find out they are shocked to say the least, and dismiss the idea straight away. Most small businesses seem to only advertise when they are desperate for business, and this is often too late, it is very hard to save a sinking ship, far better to avoid the iceberg to start with. If your business is in difficult times, it will be very hard to find the funds to mount a successful advertising campaign, that is why it is vital to advertise at all times to maintain cash flow and to have to fund available to grow your business.
We would suggest that your advertising budget should be between 10- 20 % of your yearly turnover figure. |
Top Tip! Whilst cost is always a consideration, never try to get the cheapest price that you can. Expect to pay a fair price for a fair job. If you expect to get a good service at a very low price, be very prepared for a shock. Be realistic about how many leaflets you need to deliver, most companies have a minimum distribution quantity of around 5- 10, 000 leaflets. Please do not expect 1,000 leaflets to change your business world, or even find a company to deliver such a small amount. 5,000 is often the minimum, 25 - 50 000 would be considered to be normal amounts, and larger distributions would start at around 100, 000 copies, larger companies figures often run into the millions. |
